This evening’s event was very successful, despite the road closure at the entrance to the start.  This was a New Year’s evening lock out, people still managed to find their way to the start line.

We had 61 starters, which included visitors from Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne.  There were 14 personal best times and 19 new faces.

Family groups were the order of the evening.

The Wade family were outstanding with 4 out of 4 personal best times.  Chris was the standout with 1 minute 41 seconds improvement.

Wishing everyone a happy healthy year ahead. See you all next Wednesday for the start of a great year of running.

We had a great start to 2015 with excellent conditions for running.  55 people participated and there were 14 personal best times and 8 visitors.

The visitors came from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. We welcomed back to the group on their holiday visit to the area; Will Golds, Brendan McKenzie, The Hayward and Kennedy clans and Josh Connaughton.

The most outstanding performances were from Sue Christie in the 2 kilometres event, who on her third attempt at the distance sliced 5 minutes 42 seconds from her previous best time. Lucy Hinksman continues to chip away at her PB taking off another 4 seconds. Will Golds has returned to shave off an impressive 3 min 12 seconds of his previous time.

Happy 2015 to everyone. Hope to see you all next Wednesday.

Although the temperature was above 30 degrees, it did not stop 35 athletes fronting the starter at this evening’s Broulee run.

We had 5 new starters and 2 personal best times.  We welcomed Sam Selinger-Morris who visits the area annually and has been interested in coming along to the running group for the last couple of visits and finally pushed herself to come and join us on this trip. Vince Restagno also on holidays joined us and put in a great first time. Was lovely meeting you both, hope to see you next time your in the area.

Carmen McIntosh came and did an article on the running group last week for the Bay post and decided to come and join us this week to experience the run for herself.

Seven-year-old Hugh Wignell received his 30 run shirt this evening.  He is an outstanding athlete with exceptional times in all three distances. He brought along his two cousins Andrew and Isabella McGee was great to see the three cousins competing and enjoying themselves.

Gary Ashton recorded his 100th run this evening, he is an accomplished veteran runner, who performs at a high level.

Hopefully will have slightly cooler conditions next week.

This evening’s conditions were very hot and humid and in racing terms the track was officially slow, with lots of water and mud in the first kilometre.

There were 55 starters, with visitors from Canada, NSW, Victoria and the ACT.

There were 9 new people and 5 personal best times.  Given the conditions, anyone with a PB ran very well.

Andrew McPherson received his 30 run shirt and his family were there to celebrate the occasion with him.

Was nice having mother and daughter duo, Annie and Ruby Johnsen come along,Annie has moved back to Broulee after spending a year working in Melbourne. Is wonderful having you back in town. They are pictured with family friends Will and James Golds who have been coming to Broulee for an annual holiday for the past 17 years.

See you all next week at 5pm, everyone welcome.

The wet overcast conditions did not deter 56 competitors starting in this evening’s run. There were 4 new competitors, we welcomed Dimity Collier, Charlie McDonald, Liam Rogers and Lachlan Curtis.

Personal best times were very difficult to obtain in the windy and wet conditions.  Nevertheless, we had 4 personal best times.  Well done to Ashley Leggott, Sue Christie, Lucy Hinksman and Andrew Sutton.

The most outstanding performance on the evening was that of Lucy Hincksman.
She recorded a time of 15.09 in the 3.5 kilometre event at her second attempt at this distance,
which is the 3rd fastest time in the 8 year history of the run for a woman and is by far the fastest time for a young girl.

The competitors were confronted with cold southerly winds with a hint of rain.  This did not deter 61 starters taking part in the 3 events.

We were fortunate to have a number of players from the local Australian Rules come along as part of their pre-season training.

We had 61 starters of which 13 were new to the event.

The cool conditions must have been favourable for running as there were 8 personal best times

This evening we farewelled Paige Connaughton, who is going to Melbourne to commence her tertiary study.  Paige first run was on 28 February 2008 and since that time she has clocked up 193 runs.

This evening we celebrated the eight birthday of the Broulee Runners.  We had 44 starters, who recorded 9 personal best time and we welcomed Ruth Nelson to her first run.

We celebrated with a special birthday cake and a small party.

Our first run was over a distance of 5 kilometres and was held on 7 February 2007.  It attracted 8 starters.

Numbers were low in the early days because of this longer distance.  3.5 kilometres was added in late 2008 and 2 kilometres was added 2 years later.

The real success was this addition of the 2 kilometres event, which allowed people to come along and test themselves out as a general fitness exercise.  This has attracted more than 200 people of all ages to participate at this level at least once over the last six months.

As an incentive to continue with their fitness campaign, participants, who achieve 30 runs, are awarded a special Broulee Runners shirt.  Judy and Damien Kennedy generously donate these.

This fun fitness community event caters for all abilities to allow them to test themselves over a measured distance.  There is no cost to come along and it is run by participants with the generous support of the  Bay Post and the Tomakin Sports and Social Club.

This evening we had warm northeasterly wind blowing into the face of the participants on their return to the finish.

We had 41 starters and 8 personal best times.

Dan Lloyd-Jones recorded his 100th run this evening with an outstanding time of 18.58 minutes over the difficult 5-kilometre event.  Very few have broken the 19-minute barrier and Dan is a standout among local residents.  He is one of the leading competitors in the Broulee Surfers Sunday swim and competes with distinction in Triathlons.  He is the firm favourite to win the Broulee Beach Fun run on Friday afternoon.

Special mention must be given to Carissa Morgan, who improved her time in the 2-kilometres event by 6 seconds.  Carissa is a member of Special Olympics and all who compete in our event applaud her performance.

Goodluck to all our runners participating in the Broulee Beach Fun this Friday all details on www.brouleesurfersslsc.org.au/pdf/fun-run.pdf

See you all next Wednesday at 5pm.

We had ideal conditions this week for our run, cloudy with no wind, which was evident with 9 PB's. We welcomed 5 new participants, it is wonderful to continuously see new faces arrive and test out their personal ability.
A big congratulations to the Broulee fun run held on Friday a lot of time was put in to bring this fundraiser to fruition and is great to see the local community support such a great event. Hopefully this will become an annual date on the calendar.
A special mention must also go to a few of our runners that participated in the gruelling  Huskison triathlon that was also held last weekend. Ruby Connor (pictured) and Katie Kennedy went in the mini man. Judy Kennedy competed in the sprint. Matt Lambert and Adrian Connor partook in the longer distance, with Adrian coming in at 4hrs 57min which he was pleased with.
Hope to see you all next Wednesday at 5pm. Everyone welcome.

This evening we had great conditions for running.  There were 44 starters with 5 new people and 8 personal best times.

Richard Fisher recorded his 100th run this evening and Wade McDonald received his 30th run shirt. (Both pictured).

Richard is a great supporter of the event.  He helps in many ways by mowing and cleaning up along the course to make it safe for others.  He helps with the recording and has even made a video of one of the events.

Wade is a promising young athlete, who excels in the Broulee surf Club events.

Well done to all, have a great week. See you all next Wednesday at 5pm, everyone welcome.

The conditions this evening were hot and oppressive, yet it did not stop the talent Sent from my iPad

The talented pair Rhys Flood and Shayne Hargraves ran excellent times over the 3.5-kilometre distance.  They will represent St Mary’s Moruya with distinction in coming district cross-country events.

Dan Lloyd-Jones showed his class in running an excellent time in the 5-kilometre to record a personal best by 11 seconds.  He is proving himself to be one of best all round athletes in the district.

Special Olympics representative Carissa Morgan continues to impress with another personal best.  She slashed 100 seconds off her previous best in the 2-kilometre distance.

Pictured are sisters Kylie and Kim Young and father and son Bruce and James Dickson. Is great to see so many families come along and participate and encourage each other to continue to improve.

Well done to you all. See you all next Wednesday at 5pm.

The conditions this evening were warm with a North Easterly wind sending 37 starters on their way.  We had 6 personal best times recorded and we welcomed 3 new people to the event.

Football codes have started training and this will impact on the numbers during the seasons as times will clash.

Young Mark Lavender has improved each time he has tackled the 3.5 kilometre event and 28 second improvement will encourage him to lift his training load.

Scott Rigby has recently returned to the event after a long absence and his 8 second personal best this evening lowered his mark of 3 years ago.

A number of our runners will be contesting the Bay Triathlon at the end of the month and we look forward to some excellent results. Pictured are the triathlon entrants Kylie and Kim Young, Robyn Kennedy and daughter and dad Ruby and Adrian Connor.

We will continue our 5pm time slot for another couple of weeks and will make sure you will be notified a week or two before changing to the earlier time of 4.30pm.

Have a great week.

We had 50 competitors in this evening's event.  We welcomed 3 members of the Kay family and additional members to the Reid and Klower family.  The attraction to the event is that families at all levels can come and enjoy the experience.

There were perfect conditions for running and 16 personal best times were recorded.

The 3.5 kilometre event was attacked with a vengeance with 8 people slashing large chunks off their times.  Dan Lloyd-Jones set a new course record of 12.21 seconds reducing the record set by Jamie Hawke back in January 2013.  Anna Hosking reduced her time set in 2010 by more than 8 minutes.

Most young athletics are getting themselves ready for the upcoming school cross country events which will take place over the next few weeks. We also wish our runners competing in this Sunday's Batemans Bay triathlon all the best will post the results next week.

We have one more week starting at 5pm and then will revert to the 4.30pm start over the winter period beginning on 8 April.

Pictured this week are:
Back: Marty Jones, Michelle Dolphin, Taryn Carver and Kristen Kay.
Front: Lucy Jones, Haiden Kay and Finn Kay.

The bitter winds of winter wiped across the Mossy Point Headland for the first run of the Autumn/Winter season, with the end of daylight saving we have moved the start to 4.30pm.

29 hardy people turned up to face the gale force southerly wind.  Broulee Runners can handle any conditions.  We had 6 personal best times and we welcomed Owen Lloyd Shepherd and Sky Lewis.  Nina McLachlan, from Geelong ran strongly in the 2-kilometre event to be first female home.

Kim Young recorded a personal best in the 5-kilometre event.  Kim competes in triathlons and her performance in this evening’s run demonstrates the benefits of her participation in this multi-discipline sport.

The star of the night was Jessica Flood, who recorded an excellent time in the 2-kilometre event and was a recipient of the 30 run shirt.

Have a great week and Don't forget our new start time of 4.30pm. Everyone welcome see you then.

This evening we had perfect conditions for competition and this helped in attracting 56 starters for the event.  There were 13 personal best times and 7 new starters.

The competition is fierce with local and district school cross-country championships early into next school term.  At the elite primary school level, Aiden Kay was a clear winner in the 2-kilometre event and improved his personal best by 12 seconds.  Lucy Hincksman was only 5 seconds off the record for the 3.5-kilometre event set by senior women more than 2 years ago.  In the 5-kilometre event Rhys Flood ran an outstanding time of 21.20, which is easily the best time for a boy of his age over this distance.

At the senior level David McCann in the 2-kilometre and Kim Young in the 5-kilometre have recorded personal best times in their last two runs.

It is good to acknowledge excellence, however, the real winners are those who participate for the exercise and enjoyment of the event.  The event is open to anyone who wants to walk or run over any of the three distances. See you all next Wednesday at 4.30pm.

We had 22 crazy competitors turn up to do the Broulee runners this week. The course was more like a tough mudder than our normal scenic weekly run, the runners had to navigate through rain, wind and mud to complete the event.
We had an amazing 3 PBs in these trying conditions, congratulations to Bradley, Finn and Kristen. We also welcomed Jenny Chell for her first run, we hope the wild conditions won't deter you and we will see you next week.
A big thank you to Michelle Dolphin and Kim Young who helped do the recording, hope you both had a nice hot shower when returned home.
Hope to see everyone next Wednesday in drier conditions, we meet at 4.30pm, everyone welcome.

We had perfect conditions for this evening’s run and as a result 52 people participated and there were 9 personal best times.

The stand out was Jaylah Hancock-Cameron, who ran an outstanding time of 14.17 over the 3.5 kilometres course, reducing her personal best time by 63 seconds and establishing a new Broulee runners record by 20 seconds.  A visitor set this time over 2 years ago and it is great to see local young athletes setting the standard.

We welcomed Sharee Jackson back to our event.  Sharee and her father Peter were there at the very beginning of the running club in 2007. We have managed to keep records of all participants and it is great to see people come back and join us and see what event and time they ran when they last participated.

Goodluck to all our young runners participating in the district cross country today. See you all next Wednesday at 4.30pm everyone welcome.
